Speaker - Presentation 2: Ray Ju and Sam Earnhardt , "Electronic Health Record Rollout, A Large (GINORMOUS) Project"
This session provides the scope and background for the deployment of Sutter Health’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) program. EHR is a computerized version of your paper health record. It has all of the information needed to care for you, such as your medical history (e.g., allergies, medications, test results and other pertinent information), as well as your contact and insurance information.
The Sutter EHR is a tool for our caregivers to personalize the delivery of quality care for our patients and their families with greater safety and convenience. With Sutter Health’s EHR program, each patient will have ONE electronic health record that may be quickly and securely accessed by any of your caregivers at any Sutter Health facility throughout Northern California. We will be focusing the presentation on the EHR project of the West Bay Region at California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) in San Francisco. CPMC is comprised of four hospitals which serves a city population of 812,000 within 49 square miles.
Sam Earnhardt, Technical Services Project Manager and Ray Ju, IS Senior Project Manager from Sutter Health Support Services Information Systems will share their firsthand Lessons Learned. The project challenges and opportunities will be covered in the areas of Communications, Human Resources, and Technology. A Case Study on the selection criteria of computer workstation solutions that will be integrated into the EHR environment will also be discussed.
